Someone's Junk Is Another's Treasure
When we throw out things, unless those things are “broken” or unusable - somewhere in the world, someone may want it. If you visit an antique store, I think the word “antique” is a misnomer. According to the Oxford Dictionary, an antique is “a collectible object such as a piece of furniture or work of art that has a high value because of its considerable age.” Unfortunately, in an antique store - most of the items are actual junk. You really have to sift through a lot to find something YOU value, regardless of it’s age.
Occasionally, you come across an item that with a little (or a lot of) restoration - could be valuable, at least aesthetically.
I found this “Morroccan fountain” at an antique store. Not sure yet where it will go - but you immediately see how “awesome” it will be.
Found these small church pews at another antique store. They’re solid oak.
Mid-century modern bar cart. I had to replace the glass on the top tier with plexiglass because the owner at the antique store broke it. He took off fifty bucks though so i took it anyway.
This floor lamp had a Turkish-esque feel to it. It had beautiful inlay and once I started cleaning and polishing - it became worthy to integrate somewhere prominent.
I had to pair the floor lamp with an equally stunning lamp shade. I considered a Victorian ornate but ultimately decided on a filigree one. I found this one on Ebay.
