Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

Located at 381 Grand St, Paterson, NJ 07505, the current Cathedral of St. John the Baptist began construction in September of 1865 on sixteen lots of land. The Cathedral was planned by the church's thirteenth pastor, Very Rev. William McNulty and designed by prominent church architect, P. C. Kiely, in a neo-Gothic style. (Source: GrandLight.com)

the rev. dean william mcnulty came to paterson in 1863 (from madison) and engaged P. C. Kiely, a prominent church architect to design a new neo-Gothic church (current).

THe "hinchcliff altar" (named after the State Senator John Hinchcliffe, a new altar and reredos (decorated screen behind the altar) were installed in 1878.
