Mission San José, San Antonio
Founded in 1720, the mission was named for Saint Joseph and the Marqués de San Miguel de Aguayo, the governor of the Province of Coahuila and Texas at the time.
Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña
This mission was named in honor of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and Juan de Acuña, the Marqués de Casafuerte. The Marqués was Viceroy of New Spain (Mexico) when the mission transferred to the San Antonio River area in 1731.
Mission San Francisco de la Espada
On March 5, 1731, Mission San Francisco de la Espada was established along this bank of the San Antonio River.
