The "Rabbit Hole" of Shower Maintenance
A project like taking care of a slow drain in the shower - you’d think is something straightforward. In my mind, it really is just removing the gunk from the shower drain, maybe pouring a little “Drain-O” and voila! Nope.
Preparing all the essential tools, dunno what I would need - so I just set down pretty much most of ‘em. I proceeded to remove the drain lid.
If you’re squeamish, then have someone else do it! lol. I am amazed at how much grossness accumulates in the drain (almost looks like compostable material, but nastier lol).
Of course after having done this, you look at the rest of you shower and think, “there’s a lot re-caulking that needs to be done and since I’m already doing this, why don’t I also re-silicone up?” Smh.
I drop everything, head to Home Depot and get the necessary items. NOTE: At the beginning of the journey was a finite set of tools, but now I was occupying most of the bathroom lol.
What stared out as “just” cleaning out the hair from the shower drain - turned into stripping out the old silicone and re-waterproofing with new silicone.
Oh it also had to be done. But I always think I can control the scope of something and realize I have to course-correct and end up spending either more time or more money. Smh.
