Cathedral of All Saints

The cathedral, designed by English architect Robert Wilson Gibson, was inspired by the High Gothic cathedrals of Canterbury, Lincoln, and St. Albans. It features a modified Greek cross shape and is clad in Potsdam stone.

Located at 62 S Swan St, Albany, NY 12210 - was the first Episcopal cathedral in the United States and was created when the Episcopal Diocese of New York was divided in 1868. Construction began in 1884 and continued until 1906. The cornerstone ceremony was attended by many influential people, including J.P. Morgan, Grover Cleveland, and Theodore Roosevelt.

The cathedral's interior features a high vaulted ceiling, stone piers, a clerestory, and stained glass windows in addition to the cathedral's walls and floors decorated with mosaics around the high altar.

Its elaborately carved stone interior contains memorials to several state governors and a stunning baptistery.

The sanctuary and choir area features stone and wood carvings, along with impressive stained glass windows by Clayton and Bell from London, LaFarge, and other well-known stained glass artists.

The Cathedral is a tourist destination known for its Gothic architecture, multicolored stained glass, stone carvings, and 17th-century Belgian Choir stalls. It has a renowned music program and is affiliated with the American Guild of Organists and the Royal School of Church Music in America. Additionally, it hosts both secular and religious concerts.
